Our mission
Help should be easier to find.
A Way Forward connects people in Pinellas County to existing community services.
Why we built this
People should be able to find food, shelter, healthcare and work support without navigating a confusing website. Our aim is to make the next step clear, even on an older phone.
Faith in action, help for everyone
Our work is inspired by Matthew 25:40 (ESV): “as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” We seek to serve people through practical help. Everyone is welcome, regardless of faith or background. No religious participation or personal information is required.
How accurate is the directory?
The original 51 listings were compiled from published government, nonprofit and provider information and source-reviewed on October 23, 2026. Seven recovery listings were added and source-reviewed on October 24, 2026. Two existing entries were also included under recovery. Three source-linked guides on banking and no-fee ID were added on October 30, 2026, bringing the directory to 61 entries. These are online guidance resources, not directly vetted walk-in providers. This is a research-based pilot. We have not directly contacted every organization to confirm service hours, openings, eligibility, or current funding.
Please call providers before visiting. For immediate shelter referrals, contact 211.
How the reputation-based order works
When independent evidence is available, listings are sorted by published nonprofit accountability ratings (Charity Navigator), program accreditation (CARF), and a small amount of matched public location feedback. These are different signals and none proves quality of care, safety, real-time availability, or a good personal experience. Essential crisis and referral numbers, including 211 and 988, remain prominent regardless of reviews. Listings without independent ratings remain listed; we do not give them a negative rating.
Scores and source URLs are stored in the downloadable resource database. Ratings were researched October 24, 2026, and will need periodic rechecking. A Charity Navigator four-star rating measures the organization's nonprofit accountability, not the effectiveness of a particular service or intake team. CARF accreditation applies to specific programs, not necessarily every service at an agency.
Privacy and location
This version has no account, cookies, analytics, or form asking for your personal story. Location is completely optional. Only if you tap “Use my location” does your browser ask your permission. Your phone's position is then used inside your browser to suggest the nearest city from our limited list; this site does not receive or store coordinates (your browser or phone may use its own location service). You can use the site without permission or select a city manually. The city estimate is not a precise street address or ZIP code.
Location access works on HTTPS websites (and in some local-file browsers). External provider websites and maps have their own privacy policies, and opening those links may share information with the external service.
We cannot reserve beds, dispatch emergency services, guarantee support, or calculate travel distances to specific organizations.
Our Your Way Forward page provides general starting points for documents, benefits, work, banking, and stable housing. The steps are flexible, not requirements or guarantees.
